Ladies Spa Night

In honor of Mother’s Day, our ladies were invited to be pampered!  The activity room was turned into a spa!  We had  hand massages, foot massages and manicures.  Light music playing and great snacks after.  It was a real treat…

Water Color Painting

The “crafters” at Twin Rivers had a lesson in watercolor for making our April raindrops!  Each one had their paint, water, brush & practice paper to learn some watercolor techniques before starting in on the raindrops.  Not only was it a fun learning experience, our raindrops turned out just beautiful – each one unique!  We even had a rainy day to do the project!  Placed in the dining room with the giant umbrellas we decorated, it looks like a whimsical April showers day!  Today, as it rains & pours outside, we will decorate rain boots to complete the April scene in the dining room!  I am so proud of our “crafters” at Twin Rivers & the effort they put into our projects!  Our crafts bring a personal touch to our dining room that all the residents enjoy!

Fresh Vegetable Soup

What’s better on a cold winter’s day than homemade soup?  We gathered together to chop and stir up a wonderful fresh vegetable soup!  Luckily, we had Pete Remme show up for our cooking group, with his own utensils in hand!  He had the honor of chopping up our head of cabbage – and he did a great job too!  Fresh carrots, onion, red potatoes, green beans, , home canned tomatoes & garlic all went into our soup.  But, our “special” ingredient that made our soup so delicious, was a bottle of dark German beer!  Everyone enjoyed eating a  bowl of our “creation” and left with another bowl to take home for later!  And as you all know, the next day it will be even betterMmmmmmmmm  good!!

T-shirt Scarfs

We’re “going green” at Twin Rivers!  We took an old T-shirt, cut and “pulled” and turned it into an amazing fringe scarf!  This was such a fun craft because it wasn’t all that hard to do and they turned out so beautiful, not to mention functional!!  The ladies were so excited over their creations that we decided we’d better have a group picture under the Christmas tree!!   What a great way to recycle T-shirts you no longer wear!!

“Give Thanks”

This little pillow so brightly colored with fall leaves and the saying “Give Thanks” on it to remind us all that we have a lot to be thankful for here at Twin Rivers!  The edges were cut and the ladies tied them together and stuffed them until they became a fluffy little pillow.

Witch’s Stew

“Bubble, bubble, toil & trouble”……the  craft room turned into a witch’s kitchen and Lora turned into a witch for her special Witch’s Stew recipe!  From “goblin fingers” to “condensed bat broth” to “fountain of youth juice”, the ladies had a great time chopping & putting together this Halloween Stew!  And while the stew “brewed” they put together a very clever witch’s feet garland craft!  They  had a fun afternoon and everyone agreed, Witch’s Stew is pretty tasty!!

Halloween Spider Craft

Oh the things you can do with yarn, a foam ball and felt!  It’s a spider that brings a smiles, not shrieks!  Make this cordial 8 leg creature a part of your Halloween Decor!!!
