In honor of Mother’s Day, our ladies were invited to be pampered! The activity room was turned into a spa! We had hand massages, foot massages and manicures. Light music playing and great snacks after. It was a real treat…

Water Color Painting
The “crafters” at Twin Rivers had a lesson in watercolor for making our April raindrops! Each one had their paint, water, brush & practice paper to learn some watercolor techniques before starting in on the raindrops. Not only was it a fun learning experience, our raindrops turned out just beautiful – each one unique! We even had a rainy day to do the project! Placed in the dining room with the giant umbrellas we decorated, it looks like a whimsical April showers day! Today, as it rains & pours outside, we will decorate rain boots to complete the April scene in the dining room! I am so proud of our “crafters” at Twin Rivers & the effort they put into our projects! Our crafts bring a personal touch to our dining room that all the residents enjoy!
Fresh Vegetable Soup
What’s better on a cold winter’s day than homemade soup? We gathered together to chop and stir up a wonderful fresh vegetable soup! Luckily, we had Pete Remme show up for our cooking group, with his own utensils in hand! He had the honor of chopping up our head of cabbage – and he did a great job too! Fresh carrots, onion, red potatoes, green beans, , home canned tomatoes & garlic all went into our soup. But, our “special” ingredient that made our soup so delicious, was a bottle of dark German beer! Everyone enjoyed eating a bowl of our “creation” and left with another bowl to take home for later! And as you all know, the next day it will be even better! Mmmmmmmmm good!!
December Angels
The December angel was ready to be created! A poinsettia for its’ base & gold ribbon for its’ wings, this little angel turned into a Christmas jewel! With a foil wrapped package at the foot of her green felt gown, she definitely says “Merry Christmas”! It’s hard to believe that she is our last angel of the year! Each month our angel creations have had something special about them. OK, which one is my favorite? It’s really a hard call to make, but I think because of my love for fall & its’ colors, I’ll choose the October angel for number one. Judy, our activities assistant, has chosen the November angel as her favorite, & Karen, Twin Rivers Marketing, has chosen the Christmas angel as hers! With Christmas upon us, it’s hard for me to not make that one my favorite too!! This wonderful collection is now displayed in my activities office on a shelf designed & made by one of our residents’ brothers! Do you have a favorite angel? Tell us which one pulls at your heart strings!
Christmas Cheer
The Holidays are upon us and Twin Rivers is beautiful where ever you go! Trees and decorations along with the holiday spirit here at Twin Rivers!!!
T-shirt Scarfs
We’re “going green” at Twin Rivers! We took an old T-shirt, cut and “pulled” and turned it into an amazing fringe scarf! This was such a fun craft because it wasn’t all that hard to do and they turned out so beautiful, not to mention functional!! The ladies were so excited over their creations that we decided we’d better have a group picture under the Christmas tree!! What a great way to recycle T-shirts you no longer wear!!
“Give Thanks”
This little pillow so brightly colored with fall leaves and the saying “Give Thanks” on it to remind us all that we have a lot to be thankful for here at Twin Rivers! The edges were cut and the ladies tied them together and stuffed them until they became a fluffy little pillow.
Halloween Party
We started the party out with Halloween trivia with monster punch and a cookie. We then went into a “Monster Mash” Dance and “Ghost Busters”. Lora, Karen and Judy moved about the dining room dancing and singing. The residents laughed so hard! Best party ever (they were saying). We then went into our costume contest. Several residents dressed up so the contest was pretty hard. We then let the residents write down who they wanted to see win. 1st place went to Alice Otterness, She was the Harvest Lady! 2nd place was Norris Johnson, The pirate. 3rd place was Correne Clauson, Skeleton
Fun was had by All!!!
