March Madness!!!

This month was filled with fun activities and great entertainment.  Some highlights of this month are the Shamrocks and rainbows they made for the dining room decorations to homemade beef stew and men’s woodworking group.  Then came Easter and the dining room was filled with little chicks and Easter Bunnies with grass to making fuzzy bunnies and little bunny and duckling baskets!  It was a fun filled month!

Valentine’s Day

These giant cupcakes were not only very fun hands on project; they turned out to be one of the most adorable decorations yet! (Did I say that about our last craft? ) This idea popped into my head, no internet involved! The accordion fold…ed construction paper became the base & tissue paper with lots of decoupage on the pattern turned into thick nummy looking icing! Of course we needed sprinkles & hearts to make them ready for Valentine’s Day! Our residents simply LOVE them in our dining room! Lora, Activity Coordinator

Summer Time Dreamin

“That sure brings back memories”…….is what I heard time after time from our residents Saturday night at our “Summer Dreamin’” supper & entertainment hour.

The velvety voice of Tim Patrick sent everyone into a different time;  a time of ballroom dancing with their “sweetheart” on Saturday night;  a time when love was in the air.

Tim Patrick‘s voice rivals that of Frank Sinatra or Andy Williams & everyone truly enjoyed the evening performance.  With lemonade & lemonade cocktails served there was definitely some “Summer Dreamin” goin’ on!

It’s times like this as the activities coordinator for Twin Rivers, that I feel truly blessed to bring moments like this to our residents.

Snowmen (stain glass look)

These are pretty unique snowmen with their stained glass look. They hang proudly on our dining room windows!

Snowmen and mittens are the theme…

Snowmen and mittens are the theme…  For are January days!  Bright blue skies and white winter snow are the colors we choose for a lot of our crafts this month.

And who doesn’t love a snowman. They always bring a smile to your face.

Visits from the Cloverdale 4-H Club

The Cloverdale 4-H Club came and visited the residents and brought them a pinecone ornament with the Story of “The Legend of the silver Pinecones”

Whistling Well Farm

Jackets dug out of closets, gloves & scarves too, it was a chilly Minnesota morning to head out to the Whistling Well Apple Farm owned by Charlie Johnson, who just published his book about the farm & his Springer Spaniel dog, “Emmy”.  Although the wind was blowing, our hearty residents were not daunted by the weather & had a great time looking at the pumpkins, apples , mums & goodies the farm had to offer in their store.  “Midnight”, the cat, stole a few hearts away, loving attention & falling fast asleep in anyone’s lap that would let him curl up for awhile!  One of the ladies wanted to “accidently” put him in her purse to take home!  With his warm hospitality, Charlie brought chairs up for everyone to sit down & have a cup of fresh, hot apple cider.  It seems like the cool fall air makes apples taste even better! Delicious!!  We boarded the van with bags of apples, pumpkins, stuffed Springer Spaniels , books, mums & fun fall decorations!  Although “Emmy” was a bit distracted by a group of children she was bouncing through the orchards with, she did take the time to board our van & say hello before we left. We will certainly return to Whistling Well Farm!

“Tie One On”

Since it is National Tie Week, we honored it by wearing a tie to Happy hour on Friday all while we listened to Dan the accordion man.

4th of July

We had a great 4th of July here at Twin Rivers.  We made table poppers for the dining room that was decorated with red, white and blue.    Chef Donna made a delicious lunch,  hotdog with all the fixings, macaroni salad, cole slaw and an orange dreamsicle for dessert!  After lunch we had a program called “Follow the Flag”.  We were reminded of why we celebrate and the sacrifices that were made.

Flashy, Clashy clothes day…

We always have so much fun here at Twin Rivers. We had a Flashy, Clashy clothes day, and was it ever fun! Stop by and pick up an Activity calendar so you can join us for our events!
